There is no formula for 'ice cream novelty item', so I break the solid into pieces I do have formulas for. The upper piece is already a plain cone. The lower piece, the frustum, is not — but a frustum is a big cone with a small cone removed, so I can replace one hard shape with two easy ones. To find that removed tip I slice the solid down its axis and look at the flat picture: the slanted side is a straight line whose radius changes at a steady rate, and following that line down tells me exactly where the missing apex sits. Then the whole problem is three cone volumes combined.
